BP Leverages NAVTEQ Maps to Reach Millions of Consumers
Most Widely Used Digital Map to Include Latest European BP Locations

Chicago, IL – August 30, 2007 – NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, has announced that BP has chosen to show the location of its thousands of European petrol stations on NAVTEQ’s maps.

Each of the BP locations will be validated and precisely placed on the map – a map which is consulted an estimated 90 million times per day around the world!  This will enable users of installed vehicle navigation systems, portable navigation systems and wireless and internet-based mapping applications to find and route to BP’s exact locations.   This initiative has been made possible through NAVTEQ’s Direct Access programme which enables BP to provide updated location information on an ongoing basis, alerting customers to new or changed locations.

Denise Doyle, VP Business Affairs, NAVTEQ, sees the project as enhancing the driver’s experience, “We know that mobile consumers are increasingly relying on their navigation systems to route them to a wide range of retail locations.  Often, the decision of who to do business with is based on who is in the vicinity.  The most up to date BP station locations – for obvious reasons – may help consumers who have had to search for that elusive fuel stop as the needle heads to empty!”

“BP is consistently at the forefront of many industry initiatives, and providing the best possible information to the driver on our facilities is one of them” said Huub Stokman, Marketing Director, BP International.  “We aim to be top of mind with our drivers when they need us and having our latest locations included in the NAVTEQ map is an innovative way to accomplish this”.

BP joins a growing list of merchants becoming a part of NAVTEQ Direct Access.  Having up to date locations included in the industry’s leading digital map is an emerging point of competitive advantage for companies operating retail locations of particular use to drivers such as gas stations, banks/ATMs, stores and restaurants.
